a little bit of our weekend...

Hello!

Did you all have a nice weekend? We did, it was busier than usual. Friday night I went out with some girlfriends for my dear friend Kristy(s) 32nd b-day. It was good food, good company and lots of fun! Then on Saturday we had a quiet morning and then that afternoon Scott and I dropped Eli off with my mom and we went to lunch and had fun shopping the aisles of 'Michaels Craft Store' and buying Eli art supplies. Hahaha, more on that later...  Then Sunday we met grandma and grandpa for lunch in Cherry Creek and did a quick trip to the mall, and of course that night I watched the Oscars. I was disappointed. I felt the hosting was lack-luster and the show and presenters/acceptance speeches very odd! What did you think?

Anyway, here are some fun pics of the weekend. Enjoy!

play-rooms!

Hello again! We've been thinking about play-rooms and organization over here, so thought I'd share some inspirations...

These wonderful art boards are from 'Pottery Barn Kids' found here.

the kind of mother

So I would like to take a moment and introduce a new little series I want to create on my blog : 'the kind of mother...'  As I was cleaning up the house yesterday, changing sheets, etc...I was thinking about what kind of mother I want to be to little Eli and our potential future children and I thought this might be a fun thing to share. So the first musing is...

the kind of mother who...
always has fresh sheets on the bed that smell of rose and lavender.

a little bit of our weekend...

Hello again,

Hope you all had a nice weekend. We did for the most part, Scott got home from his work trip Saturday afternoon and it was great to have him home. But on Sunday and Monday Eli napped terrible which was hard for everyone, then he slept terrible last-night, so not really sure what's going on... Usually he is an excellent napper and has also been sleeping great through the night the past few weeks, so we think either a developmental milestone is coming on (we're seeing lots of creeping going on) or a growth spurt, or a tooth... but I've been saying that for months and still nothing! Ha! Any thoughts from you moms out there?

However, we did have some fun. Eli wore his Puma jumpsuit from Auntie Jenessa (my dear friend) for the first time, and loved it might I add.

(the shoes in the back too are from Jenessa, Eli wouldn't sit still to put them on. :)

                                                             'ladies, no autographs please.'

We also put together his new high-chair...

                                                          'mmmm dad, I love apple-sauce.'

And this last picture is from this morning. Let me preface by saying we just woke up from the rough night of sleep and I was talking to Eli asking if he thought he was going to nap better today and sleep better tonight, and he looked at me, leaned back and said...

"I'll have to think about it..."

Wish us luck!!

Eli is 7 months! Holy Moly!

Wow, we really can't believe how fast time flies. That's the funny thing with babies/kids, they truly allow you to live in the moment.

This past month has been a BIG month for little Eli, he has been through quite a bit, including many firsts... Let me share:

First time in the 'big boy' stroller:

First time having 'solids':

 First time going swimming:

First Mohawk:

First time sleeping in his crib, in his own room, all night long and naps, and he continues to do so... Hip, Hip Hooray!!

He is growing up so fast! :(

you know you're a mom...

when you hear a 'phantom cry.' The 'phantom cry' is when your baby is not crying, has not been crying for hours and yet you think you still hear it...

my funny valentine

My little love LOVES kisses, so he was showered with them on Valentines! He is such a bright-eyed, happy baby who brings Scott and I so much joy. Hope you all have a Happy Valentines Day.

p.s. Eli had to throw in a little drool there for you all. :)

a little bit of our weekend...

Hi friends,

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. We had a quiet one, stayed home mostly and made some good food, got frozen yogurt... Although on Sunday we did venture out and take Eli to see his Great Grandma Collins. I also met up with a girlfriend Sunday evening to see 'Blue Valentine.' Wow, it was very good and so well acted, but so real and intense. Have you seen it?

Anyway, here are some silly pictures of our weekend. Enjoy!

Eli checking his email, and looking very concerned while at it...;)

                                                            Having fun in the play-gym

and thinking mommy is sooo funny!

cute valentines idea

Valentines is Monday, just right around the corner. I recently saw this over at Blonde Designs Blog and thought it was so sweet. They are little mailboxes that the mom leaves love notes in for her children during the month of Feb. How cute is that?

What do you do for Valentines? xo

I came across the photographer Jordan Matter(s) portfolio 'dancers among us' and think it is wonderful! Here are some of my favorites, but you can see the full gallery here.

a belated birthday post to my sister...

So my sister celebrated her birthday on January 31st and I never got around to publishing this post, (sorry sister!) So here it is...

That's me and my sister Kelly when we lived in Van Nuys, CA. It clearly looks like we just rolled out of bed and headed to the backyard to play. I'm the one in pink with the cool half-shirt (notice how I'm posing.)

Even though Kelly and I are inherently different, we are also best friends. We can always make each other laugh and truly value our friendship. But of course growing up we fought over the usual girl stuff; CLOTHES, the phone, the bathroom etc... My sister has always been there for me, including one of the most (recent) important moments in my life. When I went into labor I was already in the hospital on bed-rest and was alone in my room at the time (Scott was at work) and I was starting to feel so sick, and miraculously my sister walked in just at the moment things were about to get ugly (literally!) And she stayed through it all, holding my hair while I puked and rubbing my arm telling me it was going to be alright when I was scared to death! I will never forget that and I'm not sure if I ever properly thanked her... So her it is, THANK YOU SISTER, you are the best, and Happy Birthday yet again... I still have your gift sitting here. ;) xoxo

p.s. Just for the record, Scott arrived an hour or two later and Eli was born the next day (with dad there!)

Hi again!

Hi friends! Sorry I was away for so long...been dealing with some stuff with little Eli (including teaching him how to sleep in his crib/in his own room this weekend) and figuring out some other stuff. Anyway, I plan to return to blogging more consistently again.

Here's a little video of Eli pretending to play keyboards. (Apologies for the poor quality, it was shot on my iPhone.) Enjoy!

'you know you're a mom' is back...

you know you're a mom when...

you send out a stack of letters to mail and forget to address them...
seriously, Daryl (our mail-man) looked at me like I was crazy and I told him that I had 'mommy brain' and he just stared at me. Haha!

You can find this cute Valentines card on etsy here.
